Warbler

First attempt at using gouache as a medium. This speed-painting was referenced from Josh Galicki’s Yellow-throated Warbler photo. I struggled a bit with the way dried gouache can blend with top layers. You can see this in the background, where I struggled to build up opacity. Hopefully, I’ll get better with the medium.

Medium: Reeve’s gouache on 90lb watercolor paper
Size: 15cm x 11.5cm
Time: 2-3 hours
Reference: Josh Galicki’s Instagram post

  1. Even the gods, if they exist, must laugh from time to time. Perhaps what we call tragedy is merely comedy from a higher perspective, a joke we are too caught up in to understand. Maybe the wisest among us are not the ones who take life the most seriously, but those who can laugh at its absurdity and find joy even in the darkest moments.

  2. Man is said to seek happiness above all else, but what if true happiness comes only when we stop searching for it? It is like trying to catch the wind with our hands—the harder we try, the more it slips through our fingers. Perhaps happiness is not a destination but a state of allowing, of surrendering to the present and realizing that we already have everything we need.

  3. Wow that was odd. I just wrote an very long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear.

  4. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her
ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her
ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

  5. The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad and tested
to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be
a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views.
I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with
    someone!
